Tourist Attractions: The smallest country in the world, Vatican City, the seat of the Pope is visited by thousands of tourists every year, for its stupendous collection of priceless art treasures. The most famous is the Sistine Chapel, especially its ceiling that has been decorated by Michelangelo's frescoes depicting the Last Judgement and scenes from the book of Genesis. Other great artists like Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, Pinturicchio and Luca Signorelli painted the walls of the chapel. Other major attractions are the St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums. The St Peter's Basilica, built at the tomb site of St. Peter has a marvelous architectural design and provides a tour up to the heights of Michelangelo's dome, excavations of the original church, an early Christian cemetery and the necropolis of St Peter. The Vatican Museums comprising of several museums and galleries showcases a tremendous collection of Renaissance sculptures, paintings and tapestries, including the Borgia Apartments painted by Raphael.

Access: There are ample bus and taxi services from Rome to Vatican. Tourists can also take the train from Rome to reach Vatican.

Climate: The climate is generally mild with sunny skies. July and August can get too hot for comfort, while the month of November can be rainy.
