Tourist Attractions: Togo, (formerly French Togoland), is a small but picturesque nation in Africa, known for its palm-fringed beaches, colonial towns and national parks. Lome, the capital, is famous for its lovely beaches and colonial charm. The historic town of Togoville, where the colonial treaty between the Germans and the ruler Mlapa III was signed, is worth a visit. Other tourist attractions in Togo include the spectacular Akloa Falls, the scenic Tamberma Valley, famous for its 17th century fortified villages, Lake Togo, a popular venue for watersports, and Aného, the erstwhile colonial capital, known for its well preserved colonial architecture and culture. For wildlife enthusiasts, Togo has the Fazao National Park, Kéran National Park and the Fosse aux Lions (Lions' Den).
Access: Togo has emerged as a favorite transit point for air travel in Africa, and so many airlines operate directly to Tokoin Airport (Togo) from all the major destinations in Europe and Africa. Regular ferries connect Lomé from Benin and Ghana. Daily bus and car services are also available between Lomé and Cotonou (Benin) and Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).
Climate: Togo has a hot and humid tropical climate all year round. It has two main seasons, a rainy season from April to July and again from October to November, and a short dry summer from February to March.
