Tourist Attractions: Tajikistan is known as for its natural beauty especially its towering Pamir mountains. Tourists enjoy climbing and trekking through the Fannsky Gory (Fan Mountains). The Gumbezkul Valley with its steep slopes is great for hiking and offers spectacular views. Tourists can also visit the nearby Madiyan Valley that has hot springs. Water lovers must visit the Yashil-Kul or Green Lake for its beaches and warm springs. The city of Khojand has the Panchshanbe Bazar that is great for shopping and the mausoleum of Sheikh Massal ad-Din. The ancient city ruins in Penjiikent are popular with history enthusiasts.

Access: Tajikistan receives direct flights from Russia, Pakistan, India and Germany and there is a rail link between Tajikistan and Russia that also branches out to Uzbekistan.

Climate: Tajikistan has a continental climate so it experiences hot summers while winters are mild in some parts but very chilly near the Pamir Mountains and accompanied by snowstorms.
