Tourist Attractions: The pretty island state of Taiwan charms tourists with its beautiful scenery modern technology and splendid customs and traditions. The Taiwan Folk Village is one such example. The Folk Village beautifully showcases its traditional architecture, arts and food of the yesteryears as well as accurate reproductions of temples, halls and simple farmhouses. Other major tourist attractions include the National Palace Museum that has a stupendous collection of artifacts dating back to the 10th century and the Taroko Gorge with its beautiful environs of its marble-walled canyons, lush vegetation and cliffs. Many tourists also stop over at Taipei and the mountain resort of Alishan.

Access: Taiwan is linked to all the major countries of the world by air except for China. Ferry services operate to and from Japan and Macau to Taiwan.

Climate: Generally the climate is sub-tropical with hot, humid summers. The only exception is the mountains that are quite cool. Winters are tolerable at 19°C in the capital while the southern parts have warm winters at around 24°C.
