Tourist Attractions: Sudan is the largest country in Africa and is currently politically unstable. Travelers should avoid Southern and Eastern Sudan and Darfur in Western Sudan.  Sudan is known for its striking landscape, amazing archeological sites and rich and diverse wildlife. Tourist attractions in Sudan include the cities of Khartoum, Omdurman and Port Sudan; the archaeological sites at Bajrawiya, Naga and Meroe; the National Museum, Jebel Marra peak, the Red Sea with marine gardens and coral reefs; and the Dinder National Park, known for its giraffes, lions, and leopards. Sudan also offers excellent conditions for swimming, diving, fishing and wildlife safaris.

Access: Many airlines including the British Airways, Lufthansaand Sudan Airways operate direct flights to Sudan from various destinations in Europe and Africa. There are rail links from Cairo in Egypt to Aswan High Dam and then car ferries take you to Wadi Halfa in Sudan.

Climate: Sudan is has a tropical climate, which varies according to regions. While it has a tropical climate in the south, the north has an arid desert climate and the east a Mediterranean climate with winter rain. The summer season (March - October) can be excessively hot throughout the country. The rainy season lasts from April to November.
