Location: Between Central and East Europe, surrounded by Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro, Hungary, Moldova and Ukraine, and has a coastline along the Black Sea.

Tourist Attractions: Romania has a variety of tourist attractions. The castles of Romania draw the maximum tourists. The Bran Castle, built in 1382 by Saxons is famous for its exquisite furniture, labyrinth of secret underground passages and the on-site ethnographic museum while Corvin Castle is famed for its pointed towers, drawbridge, high battlements, marble columns and art museum. Other favorite sightseeing spots include the drive through Bicaz Gorges and a visit to the Palace of Parliament, built during the dictator Nicolai Ceauşescu's regime and a fine example of Romanian craftsmanship. The open air Village Museum with its sights from rural Romania is also worth a visit, as are the Carpathian Mountains.
Access: Romania is served by excellent train links to Russia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Moldova, Ukraine and Western Europe. There are cruise services along the Danube River that connect Romania with Austria, Hungary and Serbia. Romania’s nine international airports, including the Otopeni international airport receive direct flights from a host of other nations.
Climate: The climate in Romania is temperate. Spring is rainy, the summers are usually hot, and the winters are normally cold and foggy with a lot of snow from December to April.
