Tourist Attractions: Peru is famous as the home of the Inca civilization and is known for its mountain ranges, beaches and lush tropical forests. Tourist attractions in Peru include the ancient towns of Cusco, Machu Picchu, Chan Chan (UNESCO World Heritage Sites), Sechín and Chiclayo. Lima, is known for its colonial mansions, museums and plazas including the Plaza de Armas. Arequipa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its colonial structures, built of white volcanic rocks. Other attractions include the intriguing Nazca Lines, Cañón del Cotahuasi (a canyon), Islas Flotantes (an island lake), Sillustani Tower, and Salineras de Maras (salt pans), the Manu National Park, Huascarán National Park, Paracas National Reserve and Blanquillo Ecological Reserve. Visitors can also enjoy activities like mountain trekking, hiking, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, paragliding, hot air ballooning, fishing and scuba diving in Peru.

Access: Many airlines operate direct flights to Peru from various destinations in Europe, North America and South America. Regular bus services also operate between Peru and Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Climate: Peru’s climate varies according to altitude and region. While the east has a tropical climate, the west has a dry desert climate. Winter lasts from June to September and the rainy season is from December to April.
