Tourist Attractions: Nicaragua, the largest Central American nation, is known for its stunning natural landscapes and diverse cultural treasures. A famous eco-tourism destination, Nicaragua is known for its enchanting lakes, scenic islands, volcanoes, marine lagoons, tropical forests, beaches and mangroves. Tourist attractions in Nicaragua include the city of Leon, famous for its colonial churches; and Managua, known for its colonial architecture and volcanic lagoons. Other attractions are Ometepe Island on Lake Nicaragua, Lake Managua, Laguna de Apoyo (crater lake), Laguna de Xiloa Lagoon, Momotombo Volcano, Corn Islands (Islas del Maiz) in the Caribbean, Volcán Masaya National Park, and Refugio de Vida Silvestre La Flor (volcano and national park). Nicaragua is also known for its lovely beaches like San Juan del Sur, El Velero, El Coco, Marsella, Masachapa and Pochomil, offering excellent facilities for surfing boating, fishing and bathing.

Access: Many international airlines fly to Nicaragua from North and Central America. There is a river border crossing between Nicaragua and Costa Rica at Los Chiles, reachable by boat from San Carlos. Regular bus services are available between Managua and Tegucigalpa (Honduras), San Salvador (El Salvador) and San José (Costa Rica).

Climate: Nicaragua enjoys a tropical climate. There are two main seasons – dry (December to May) and rainy (June to November).
