Tourist Attractions: The poorest nation of Europe, Moldova is also one of its most picturesque countries. It is famous for its wine region, especially Cricova that is totally underground and has about 1.25 million bottles of rare wine. The Lower Dniestr National Park has over 40 archaeological sites, observation points, villages and vineyards, spread over 50,000 hectares of wetlands, forest and agricultural land. Tourists also love visiting the Orheiul Vechi Monastery complex. The Cave Monastery has been carved into a massive limestone cliff in the 13th century and overlooks the Răut River.
Access: The only direct flights that the Chisinau International airport receives are from Germany and France. If traveling by train, the best option is to catch a train from Bucharest in Romania.
Climate: Moldova has a temperate continental climate with warm summers where temperatures average around 20°C between May and October. Winters can get very cold because of the Siberian winds.
