Tourist Attractions: The Federated States of Micronesia, as it is formally known, comprises of 607 islands in four island groups. The island groups are Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae. The country depends heavily on the United States for economic aid. Major tourist attractions in Micronesia comprise of the Lelu Island for its ancient ruins of burial mounds and dwellings amidst a thick tropical forest great for hiking, and the ancient stone city of Nan Madol, Micronesia’s renowned archaeological site. Adventure loving tourists also visit the Sokehs Rock that provides for a great climb and offers splendid views of the Kolonia and the reef from the top. Giant stone discs used as currency on Yap and the tropical beauty of the beaches and lagoons of these Pacific islands are other tourist attractions in Micronesia.

Climate: The average temperature in Micronesia hovers between 20°C and 30°C throughout the year. The high humidity is usually tempered by the fresh sea breezes, while heavy rainfall occurs from June to December.
