Tourist Attractions: A combination of ancient monasteries, churches, Turkish bazaars, great cuisine and amazing greenery makes Macedonia a great tourist destination. The city of Ohrid is the tourist hub of the country with its plethora of cultural monuments like the Roman town of Lihnidos alongside Lake Orhid, with its beautiful beaches. The monastery of Sv Jovan Bigorski Monastery is famous for purportedly being the place where Sv Jovan (St John the Baptist) had appeared, while the Treskavec Monastery, with its amazing mountain backdrop has some of the most colorful and intricate frescoes. Tourists also flock to Lake Matka that offers splendid opportunities for hiking, rock climbing or a boat ride amongst the caves.

Access: The two international airports, at Skopje (SKP) and Ohrid receive direct flights from Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Macedonia is also served by train services from Greece and Serbia and Montenegro. For traveling by bus, one can enter Macedonia through Serbia and Montenegro,  Albania, Bulgaria, and Greece. 

Climate: Macedonia experiences dry, hot summers and autumns that alternates with comparatively cold winters along with heavy snowfall.
