Location: Eastern Europe, Baltic Sea to the west, sharing land borders with Latvia, Russia, Belarus and Poland.

Tourist Attractions: Lithuania can boast of many unique places for sightseeing. The Hill of Crosses is Lithuania’s most sacred holy site where two hillocks are covered in a mass of thousands upon thousands of crosses. The stretch of Curonian Spit, with its sand dunes, pine forests and wildlife comprising of elk, deer and wild boar is a great place for ice fishing, boating and skiing. The National Museum, which has an amazing collection of ethnographic exhibits ranging from costume, tools, weapons and jewelry along with the red-brick Trakai Castle are the other places worth visiting in Lithuania.

Access: Bus services exist from Poland Belarus Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Russia and Sweden to Lithuania. There are also ferries from Denmark, Germany and England. The Vilnus Airport and the Kaunas Airport receives direct flights from most European countries. For crossing over to Lithuania by train, one can avail of the Berlin-St Petersburg train or the Warsaw-Vilnius line.

Climate: The temperature is relatively temperate alternating between maritime and continental. Summers are pleasant in Lithuania while the winters are cold with temperatures going below zero degrees.
