Tourist Attractions: Libya is a land of great topographical diversity, from desert to lush green mountain ranges, hills, fertile plains, and enchanting oases. Tourist attractions in Libya include Tripoli, famous for its cultural heritage and colonial architecture; the Roman ruins at Leptis Magna; Cyrene and Jebel Acacus both UNESCO World Heritage Sites; Benghazi famous for its historical sites and beautiful beaches; and the oasis town of Ghadhames, famous for its unique desert architecture. Other must see attractions in Libya are the Jebel Akhdar (Green Mountain) and Zallaf Sand Dunes. Visitors can also enjoy a number of beautiful Mediterranean beaches and saline lakes, offering a range of exciting activities.

Access: Many international airlines fly to Libya from Europe, the Middle East and other African countries. Currently, there are no direct flights to Libya from the USA or Canada. Several shipping lines operate services from Europe to Libya. A regular car ferry also sails from Tripoli to Malta and several Italian ports. Buses and taxis too operate between Libya and Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Niger and Tunisia.

Climate: Libya enjoys a Mediterranean climate along the coast, and a dry desert climate in the interiors with significant day and night temperature variations. Summers in Libya can be excessively hot and dry, while winters are pleasant, with cooler evenings.
