Tourist Attractions: Laos or Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) as it formally known, is a serene country and has quite a few tourist attractions. The Pha That Luang, a symbol of both the Buddhist religion and Lao sovereignty is the most important national monument in Laos and is the most visited tourist place in the country. A drive through the Ho Chi Minh Trail, a historic war route, and the Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage city with its temples, rivers, and French provincial architecture, are a must. Many tourists explore the limestone caves in Vang Vieng. While visiting Laos, caution should be exercised as there are cases of rural banditry and sporadic violence in and around Vientiane.
Access: Laos has border crossings with Thailand, Vietnam, China and Cambodia. Laos can also be reached via the air through direct flights from Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma and China
Climate: Laos experiences two distinctive seasons - dry and wet with varying temperatures across different altitudes. The dry spell continues from November to April while the weather remains wet from May to October.
