Tourist Attractions: Greenland, the world’s largest island, has been granted self-governance by the Danish Parliament, but Denmark still retains its say over Greenland’s foreign affairs. Called Kalaallit Nunaat in the native Inuit language, Greenland’s main attractions are its huge icebergs, glaciers and fjord lands. The Northeast Greenland National Park, a UNESCO listed park is popular with tourists for its beautiful surroundings and variety of Artic flora and fauna including musk oxen and polar bears. The harbor city of Qaqortoq, the fishing village of Kolonihavnen and the Upernavik Old Town Museum are other popular tourist spots in Greenland. The ice-bound landscape, the sight of the aurora borealis and the Inuit culture are other aspects of Greenland that are not to be missed.
Access: The best way to reach Greenland is by air. There are regular flights, which connect Iceland and Greenland to leading European cities.
Climate: The climate is generally chilly with cool summers and colder winters. In some regions, it extends to Artic and sub-Artic temperatures and the sun remains hidden during the Arctic winter.
