Tourist Attractions: El Salvador is the smallest country in the Central America. It is famous for its ancient archaeological sites, colonial architecture, lush tropical forests, volcanoes and lakes, and unspoiled black sand beaches. The prime tourist attractions in El Salvador include the San Salvador Volcano, Izalco Volcano, Montecristo Cloud Forest, Parque Nacional Montecristo-El Trifinio (national park), Lake Coatepeque, Lago de Ilopango (volcanic lake), and archaeological sites of Tazumal, San Andres and Joya De Ceren, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other not to be missed attractions in El Salvador are the St Ignatius Loyola Church with a traditional Spanish colonial facade, Puerta del Diablo (devil’s doorway), San Jacinto Mountain Amusement Park, and the Balboa Park. Visitors can also enjoy a range of exciting activities like surfing, boating, fishing, canoeing and whitewater rafting.

Access: El Salvador has an international airport at San Salvador. Many international flights operate between San Salvador and various destinations in Europe and Americas. Frequent buses also connect San Salvador to Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama and Tegucigalpa (Honduras).

Climate: El Salvador enjoys a hot sub-tropical climate with coastal regions being particularly hot. Upland areas experience a cooler, more temperate climate. There are two main seasons in the country: a rainy season between May and October and a dry season from November to April.
