Tourist Attractions: The Czech Republic separated from Slovakia (the 2 countries were formerly known as Czechoslovakia) on January 1, 1993 to become a separate country of its own. There are many interesting places worth visiting in the Czech Republic from elaborate Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque-style architectural monuments, to scenic vineyards, and huge mountain peaks. Topping the list of tourist attractions is the Prague Castle, built in the 9th century on a grand scale and the oldest castle of the world. The Krkonoše mountain range offers tourists plenty of opportunities for hiking and trekking. Trips to Karlštejn Castle and the holy cave monastery, Mutěnice wine region, the Jewish ghetto in Terezin and Český Ráj for its spectacular rock formations, are all a must-see while on a tour to the Czech Republic.

Access: Czech Republic is connected by an international bus service to other European countries like Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland and Holland, among others. For traveling by train, there is an international train service connecting Czech Republic with other major European cities. There are four international airports located at Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Pardubice.

Climate: With cool summers and cold, cloudy, humid winters, the climate in the Czech Republic is generally temperate in nature.
