Capital: Yaounde

Tourist Attractions: Cameroon offers a choice of landscape, from idyllic beaches to dense rainforest, grassy savannah and arid semi-desert regions, as well as lots of exotic wildlife.
Tourists can relax on the tropical beaches, admire traditional African art at the Sultan of Bamoun’s palace and museum in Famboun, go trekking in the Mandara mountains and see the wildlife at Waza National Park. Other attractions are the cultural life and cuisine in Yaounde, the Musee d’Art Cameroonais at the Benedictine Monastery and the Fon of Bafut’s palace. Travelers to Cameroon are advised to avoid the borders with the Central African Republic and Republic of Congo and the Bakassi Peninsula area along the Nigerian border.

Access: There are several direct international flights from Europe to international airports at Yaoundé and Douala. Regular flights operate from Dakar (Senegal) and Lagos (Nigeria). There is a rail connection to Belabo (200km north-east of Yaoundé), from the Central African Republic. Tourists can travel overland at Ambam from Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, Mora from Chad and Mamfé from Nigeria. Speedboats run from Oron, Nigeria, to Idenao in Cameroon and many international ships berth at the port in Doula.
