Tourist Attractions: Austria is known for its Alpine scenery, ski resorts, hiking trails and medieval architecture. The medieval cities of Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck are famous for their fascinating architecture and cultural charm. Major tourist attractions in Austria include the Hofburg Imperial Palace, Augustinian Church, Museum of Fine Arts and Vienna State Opera in Vienna, 11thcentury Hohensalzburg Castle and Altstadt (the old city), in Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, and the medieval town of Innsbruck, known for its world-renowned ski complex and impressive architecture. Other attractions include skiing and other winter sports at ski resorts, Eisriesenwelt Caves, the 17th century Schloss Hellbrunn Castle, the ruined castle of Künringerburg, Hohe Tauern National Park, and the spectacular Krimml Falls.

Access: Many airlines including Austrian Airlines and British Airwaysoffer direct flights to Austria from various destinations in Europe. If you're visiting Austria from outside Europe, then it would be cheaper to fly to neighboring European countries and travel overland from there. Austria also has excellent road and rail connections to all major European destinations.

Climate: Austria has a moderate temperate climate characterized by warm and pleasant summers with cool nights, and cold winters with frequent rain and snow. July and August are the hottest months, while January and February are the coldest winter months.
