Phuket Air was established in 1999 and started operations on December 21, 2001. Owned by Angkana Apiwattanaporn and managed by Vikrom Aisiri, this airline was based in Bangkok and served a number of domestic and international destinations. However, due to poor service and safety concerns, the airline scaled back its operations and laid off many employees by the end of 2005. It has also leased its equipments to other carriers.
Phuket Air was scrapped off by its shareholders in March 2006. Plans are on to rename the airline and focus on a few selected routes.
