Austrian
Airlines, is the international airline carrier of Austria,
based in Vienna. Before 2003, Austrian was operating as Austrian
Airlines. Its main base is Vienna International Airport (VIE).The
Austrian Airlines group is a consortium of three Airlines namely
Austrian, Lauda Air and Austrian arrows. The focus of Austrian is
on scheduled traffic, Austrian arrows specialises in regional
business, while Lauda Air completes the Group programme with its
activities in the charter flight segment. Austrian Airlines was
founded in 1957. It was formed through a merger of Air Austria and
Austrian Airways. Austrian is owned by ÖIAG (39.7%), floating
stock (43.5%), Austrian institutional investors (10.3%) and Air
France (1.5%). It also wholly owns subsidiary airlines Austrian
Arrows and Lauda Air and has a 62% share in Slovak Airlines.
